This year 6 books were nominated and in the running for several coveted awards and prices. The four categories were: professional judges, consumer winner, most sustainable book and best design/photographer/food stylist. With four lucky winners…
THE WINNERS OF COOKBOOK OF THE YEAR 2017:
Cookbook of the Year 2017 (professional judges) – The Green Kitchen at Home by David Frenkiel & Louise Vindahl
Gouden Garde 2017 (consumer winner) – Smokey Goodness 2 by Jord Althuizen
Most sustainable cookbook – Empty the Fridge by Jennifer Schleber
Best design/photographer/food stylist – The Green Kitchen at Home by David Frenkiel & Louise Vindahl
The Green Kitchen at Home is a vegetarian cookbook written by a Swedisch duo, focusing on both people who have already been vegetarian for years and people who are just starting to experiment with a ‘greener’ diet. Jord Althuizen received more than 30% of the votes from the consumers and therefor won the Gouden Garde public award for 2017.
THE BRILLIANT IDEA
This event was celebrated with an exclusive press lunch hosted by RARE at Restaurant Bougainville where chef Pascal Jalhay prepared a phenomenal 6-course lunch inspired by the 6 nominated books. In the afternoon RARE hosted the award ceremony at Foodyard Amsterdam, sponsored by Bidfood, including entertainment, a 6 course walking dinner again inspired by the 6 nominated books. This event was successful wrapped-up with a RARE presentation and ceremony for over 100 guests.
